The second day of action at the 2017 Greco-Roman World Championships, held at the AccorHotels in Paris, France, did not yield the kind of results US fans were hoping for. All four wrestlers — Ildar Hafizov (59 kg, Army/WCAP), Ellis Coleman (66 kg, Army/WCAP), Cheney Haight (80 kg, NYAC), and Robby Smith (130 kg, NYAC) were unable to advance to the medal rounds, meaning it is the second year in a row the United States is coming home without hardware. While disappointing, it is but one chapter written in the early quad and you get the sense that the optimism the US team had coming into the Worlds is still there, even if the results aren’t what most were anticipating.

We have some media for you, as Joe Rau (85 kg, Minnesota Storm) and former US National Team member Nate Engel have been at the arena today and were able to conduct interviews with US World Team coach Jason Loukides, Coleman, Mark Halvorson, and two-time World Champion Heiki Nabi (130 kg, EST, world no. 13) prior to his final. We will update this page later on with interview clips featuring World Team coach Herb House and US National Team head coach Matt Lindland.
