Two-time World Team Trials runner-up Marcus Finau was arrested in the early hours of Saturday morning on sexual assault charges stemming from an alleged incident that took place at an acquaintance’s home in Colorado Springs. Finau, 28, reportedly fled immediately upon being confronted by the boyfriend of his accuser. He was apprehended shortly thereafter by the Colorado Springs Police Department and subsequently transported to El Paso County Jail. In a statement to 5PM on Monday, El Paso County Sheriff’s Office media relations manager Jacqueline Kirby said that Finau “is not bondable at this time.”

A native of Hawaii, Finau was a two-time Junior World Team member while a student at Northern Michigan University. In ’13, he was the runner-up to Caylor Williams at both the US Open and World Team Trials. Finau exited Senior Greco-Roman on a full-time basis in ’15 and enrolled at Colorado State-Pueblo. He returned to Senior competition last December at the US Nationals, and placed 4th at the ’20 version of the tournament two months ago in Coralville, Iowa.

Russia & Hungary In Serbia

This coming Saturday welcomes in the first-ever United World Wrestling Individual World Cup in Belgrade, Serbia. As previously reported, several prominent international Greco-Roman programs have declined to participate, including Japan, Sweden, and Kazakhstan. Russia, of course, is all in, as evidenced by their power-packed lineup that features two-time Olympic champ Roman Vlasov (77 kg, world #16) and “The Ginger Assassin”, reigning two-time World champ Musa Evloev (97 kg, world #1). Hungary will be involved, too, though they are set to make the trip without a few of their star athletes.
