NEW YORK, NY — The first tournament of the new season is underway with some of the United States’ best athletes on display.

The 2026 Bill Farrell Memorial began at 9:30am ET and is streaming live in the US on FLOWrestling.

’24 Olympian/’25 U23 World bronze Payton Jacobson (87 kg, NYAC/NTS), ’18 World Team member/multi-time National champ RaVaughn Perkins (77 kg, NYAC), multi-time age-group World rep Randon Miranda (60 kg, NYAC), ’25 World Teamer Michial Foy (97 kg, Army/WCAP), and two-time U20 World bronze Aden Attao (130 kg, NYAC) have all done their part by advancing through their respective brackets to go for gold tonight beginning at 8:00pm (ET).

Meanwhile, the above group’s opposition may very well prove to be formidable obstacles; and, just as importantly, some who are in the mix happen to be prized prospects for the Greco program.

Jacobson has only seen a second period once thus far. In addition, the three victories he earned in the first session all came via VSU. Jacobson started off by defeating Choi Jonwon (KOR) before downing recent U23 National champ Ty Beauparthuy (Tiger WC). In the semifinal, Jacobson faced off with the up-and-coming Keenan Wyatt (Knights RTC) and managed to end matters early in the second period. In the final, Jacobson will square off against Juan Antonio Batista (DOM).

Perkins & Foy

Perkins has had to dig deep several times on Friday, at times relying on his exorbitantly-high wrestling IQ, instincts, and stout positioning — as well as a couple of intuitive scoring opportunities. The semifinal saw Perkins with a marginal lead in Period 2  against Yerassyl Kenganov (KAZ) but he turned it on once again prior to the whistle and prevailed by a score of 6-1. In the gold-medal round, Perkins has a good one in Aliaksandr Kikiniou Jr. (NYAC). Kikiniou — son of Aliaksandr Sr., ’09 World bronze for Belarus and World Team member for the USA in ’24 — was an age-group World Teamer and is certainly considered one of the most talented young wrestlers in the country.

Foy has been at hard at work since falling short at the Trials in April — and it shows. Sporting a sized-up physique and brandishing a higher amount of convicted physicality, Foy got past the always-tough Brandon Marshall (Big Game WC) in the quarters and then met up with ’23 World Team member Zac Braunagel (NYAC/Navy WC) in the semis. Braunagel went up to 97 for this tournament after spending the majority of his Greco career at 87. What was anticipated to be a tenuous slugfest was not one, however, as Foy unloaded on two big sequences to walk away the 10-1 winner. Yun Donghyun (KOR) will be standing across from Foy for gold later on tonight.

Youth

Along with the aforementioned Kikiniou Jr. is an assortment of other young and promising competitors looking to gain titles. Cruzer Dominguez (MWC) will be in the 55 kg final opposed by 42-year-old Marat Garipov, who was once a top wrestler for Kazakhstan but in recent years began representing Brazil internationally.

A bronze medalist last year, Ned Kauffman IV (63 kg, Tiger WC) will be looking at an upgrade when he meets Ruben Calderon (Paradigm). When Kauffman bronzed at this tournament in ’25, he became the first such medalist for the Doane University Greco program.

The finals and bronze-medal matches are scheduled for 8:00pm ET and can be viewed live on FLOWrestling (subscription required).
