Headlocks in NY State
Saturday is Final X, and the following day is another Greco-friendly event, the 7th annual Headlocks on the Hudson in Troy, New York. Since its inception, HOH — founded by Curby 3-Style founder Joe Uccellini — has taken its place as one of the more important pre-summer tournaments on the East Coast featuring the international disciplines. The format is itself unique. Run outside on fairgrounds using the round-robin system, the first two rotations are Greco-Roman, followed by freestyle. This wrinkle in the setup was instituted as a mechanism to expose more tri-state area (i.e., the real one — NY, NJ, and CT) wrestlers to Greco when they would normally gravitate straight towards freestyle. In addition to the wrestling, food trucks and fitness vendors are on hand, as well.
Registration is open until June 9th. Interested athletes and coaches can use this link to learn more.
