The training cycle for the 2024 United States Greco-Roman Olympic Team is about to get fully underway.

The main training phase begins later this week in Porec, Croatia, which over the past few years has become a premier European camp destination. The US will be making their third trip to Porec of the year after first sending athletes to the region in both January and March.

The Americans are expected to depart from Porec on June 4 in order to travel to Budapest for the Polyak Imre Memorial (Hungarian Grand Prix) “Ranking Series” tournament (June 6-8). This event is more intended as a pre-Olympic warm-up competition than it is a potential ranking factor. Although “ranking points” are available to earn at the Polyak Imre Memorial, none of the three USA Olympians (Payton Jacobson, 87 kg; Joe Rau, 97 kg; and Adam Coon, 130 kg) currently own enough points to threaten for consequential seeds in Paris. That could change, however, depending on their placings and who (if any) among the competitors in each bracket themselves carry ranking points. This is due in part to the fact that more than several athletes at 87, 97, and 130 kg who enjoy high rankings did not qualify their weight classes and therefore may not appear in Hungary. But that, for now, is mere conjecture.

Following the Polyak Imre Memorial, the USA delegation will remain in Hungary for additional training. This camp runs from June 9 to 21.

Upon returning stateside, the Olympians will have a brief two-week interim before reporting to Colorado Springs for the official Olympic Team camp (July 7-17). They will then make the journey to France for the Olympic Games.

The full schedule as presently constituted is outlined below.
