Tomorrow morning, the 2018 US Senior Greco-Roman World Team (plus a few National Team members) will be competing at the Grand Prix of Germany in Dortmund. As reported previously, this is an important competition for the Americans. The German Grand Prix stands as the lone test event on the schedule, and with six first-time Senior World Teamers on board, how they perform will be critical in figuring out what adjustments are needed to be made before the World Championships just over two months from now.

But it’s not just the group of fresh faces who could use the work. Even those who have laced ’em up on the biggest stage at other points in their careers want to test out their arsenals. By this point in the season, most US athletes have not competed internationally in a long-enough time frame to where regaining their feel for foreign competition requires an adrenalizing component to fast-forward the process. It’s just one more facet of why the German Grand Prix is absolutely critical in sharpening the roster during the lead-up to the homestretch that begins with next month’s major World Team Camp at the OTC.
