The 1st Annual University Greco Duals went down today on the campus of George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia. Since it wasn’t an NCAA-sanctioned event, the colleges represented did so through their affiliated clubs. Along with offering collegiate wrestlers and former age-group Greco athletes a chance to compete in the style, the event also provided a “career day.” Wrestlers in attendance could essentially walk off the mats with their resumes and begin seeing what kind of opportunities might await them upon graduation.
Five teams comprised the dual format with individual champions (wrestlers with the best overall records) recognized for their efforts. The competing teams were: Rockbridge County WC (Virginia Military Institute and William & Lee); Navy-Marine Corps. WC; Patriot WC Green (George Mason); American WC (American University); and Columbia U WC (Columbia).
American WC won the University Greco Duals with a meet record of 4-0. Coming in second was Patriot Green WC (2-2) and in third was the boys from Columbia (2-2).
