Nearly 70 medals have been earned by American Greco-Roman wrestlers in 2026 across four age groups in 15 international events, including two World Championships. Two more World tournaments still remain on the horizon and, after that, additional competitions will very likely add to what is already a solid total.
The highlights for Team USA thus far in ’26 are, to regular fans and observers, obvious. In August, Aidan Squier (82 kg, NMU/NTS, and the subject of an impending full-length interview) put forth an inspiring performance as he overcame two significant scoreboard deficits to attain U20 World bronze. Just a couple of weeks prior to Squier’s run, Rylen Wax (45 kg, Beast Mode) was ultra-impressive en-route to coming away with the title at the U17 Worlds. In that same event, Bruno Pallone (110 kg, Hardin WC) picked up bronze.
As for the Seniors, the most success has come from World Team member Beka Melelashvili (87 kg, NYAC), who won the Pan-Am Championships in May, bronzed at the Hungarian “Ranking Series” in July, and last month took 3rd at the Wladyslav Pytlasinski Memorial in Poland. Otto Black (67 kg, NYAC) likewise grabbed bronze in Poland as well as Pan-Ams gold; and, though it was at this point months ago, Cohlton Schultz‘s (130 kg, Atreus WC) march to the Zagreb GP final in February was certainly noteworthy. In that tournament, Schultz downed Dariusz Vitek (HUN), whom he had first defeated in the U17 World final nine years ago.
Schultz went on to win two more tightly-contested bouts before falling via decision to multi-time World champ/Olympic medalist Riza Kayaalp (TUR) in the finals.
