Amryn Nutter (67 kg, NMU/NTS), Peyton Robb (72 kg, Nebraska Wrestling TC), 2023 World Team member Zac Braunagel (87 kg, NYAC/Navy WC), and Eli Pannell (97 kg, Dubuque RTC) are among the headliners representing the United States for when the final round at the ’25 Bill Farrell Memorial gets underway this afternoon.

not all roads lead to gold, athlete and coach devotional

Nutter —  younger brother of ’25 World Teamer Alston Nutter (Army/WCAP) — has thus far successfully navigated the round-robin 67 kg bracket by defeating Nilton Soto Garcia (PER), Logan Savvy (NYAC), and NMU teammate Maddox Khalimsky. Nutter will battle Noah Rice (PA) for gold.

Robb was an unwitting part of a little controversy en-route to the gold-medal round. He was mired in a tough match against Armenian-born Gagik Snjoyan (FRA) and trailing 10-4 with time about to expire when things went awry for his opponent. Robb had spent the waning moments of the match working Snjoyan in the ties as well as level-changing in search of a last-gasp attack that might turn the tide. He had landed a somewhat-decent club on Snjoyan, who in response hurled back and slapped Robb straight in the face. The match was, for all intents and purposes, over, but Snjoyan’s loss of composure resulted in his becoming disqualified. Robb went on to down Clay Radenz (Gorilla WC) in the next round and will now face Yanis Guendez Nifri of France in the finals. US fans may remember Guendez Nifri. Last month, he was defeated by Otto Black (67 kg, NYAC/NTS) at the U23 World Championships — and the French athlete came over to the US to train at NMU soon after.

Braunagel has gone untouched in the event leading up to the evening session. He went over Hank Baronowski (NMU/NTS) and Christian Rouleau (Minnesota Storm) in consecutive bouts to set up a showdown with Nurzhan Assan (KAZ), who took silver at this event last year.

Miranda & Eischens

In a competitive 60 kg field that featured ’25 World Trials finalist Zane Richards (TMWC/Illinois RTC) seeded #1, multi-time National Teamer Randon Miranda (NYAC) has emerged to his third Bill Farrell final, having won in ’18 before pulling up in 2nd place back in ’22. Miranda faced only uber-prospect Rhett Peak (Checkmate WC) in the opening session and triumphed by cranking a series of front headlock tilts. Miranda squares off against ’24 Pan-Am Championships bronze Yerony Liria Carreras (DOM) this evening.

Tyler Eischens (Tar Heel WC) earned a surprisingly one-sided victory over Fritz Schierl (82 kg, Minnesota Storm) and then had to bite down in order to survive an impressive effort from Aaron Dobbs (NMU/NTS) to make his first Farrell Memorial final. Eischens, up in weight for this tournament, will greet longtime Senior competitor Tornike Dzamashvili of Georgia with gold on the line.

97 & 130 kg

The two heaviest weight categories are still to be determined insofar as producing a true final. At 97 kg, Olympian Mostafa Elders (EGY) is 2-0 in the round-robin with wins over ’24 U23 World Team member Keith Miley (Arkansas RTC) and Eli Pannell (Dubuque RTC), respectively. Pannell, however, had delivered a shocker earlier in the day by clipping ’23 Final X runner-up Christian DuLaney (Minnesota Storm). Dulaney had edged Miley in the opening round and now faces Elders. Two-time U20 World bronze Aden Attao (130 kg, NYAC) is, like Elders, 2-0 in his own bracket and will go against Jose Nunez Encarnacion (DOM).
