Day 1 of Cadet Greco Duals Show Patterns and Promise

Cadet Greco Duals

There hasn’t been much downtime for the Cadet age group as of late, and yesterday marked another competition in what has been a pretty busy schedule. The Cadet Greco Duals unfolded in York, Pennsylvania as teams from around the country mixed it up to see who will take top honors. Day one was all about finding out who would advance through their respective pools. As time went on throughout the proceedings, a pattern began to emerge.

In Pool A, Washington dominated Kansas Blue 55-24. Nate Moore, Jack Ervien, Caleb Thomas, and heavyweight John Keiser picked up falls to help build what became a lead too massive for Kansas Blue to play catch-up against. Pool B saw PA Blue down Michigan Red in a similarly lopsided score 51-24. Illinois took Pool C by beating up on Missouri Red 67-10. In this meet, the usual suspects all picked up crushing wins. James Pierandozzi, Dalton Jensen, Drew Hoselton, and Sergio Villalobos seized the momentum they were carrying throughout the day and continued it into the finals.

Minnesota Storm’s Cadets also came away victorious in their grouping, emerging from Pool D by eeking past Oklahoma 39-33. Storm, as always, showcases a lot of talent and this year’s crew featuring Paxton Creese, Colby Njos, and Tyler Eischens came to Pennsylvania motivated and into the action.

Today’s bouts will see the color Pools begin at around 8am and are available to watch via stream on Flo Wrestling. The final day of the Cadet Greco Duals is going to determine the true placewinners, which means that the intensity level of the wrestling should be punched up a bit. Day one brought on a whole lot of scoring and plenty of highlight-reel throws. Day two promises to be just as action-packed. And with all of the talent currently situated in the Cadet age group, York, Pennsylvania is the place to be to catch the up-and-coming US Greco Roman talent everyone has been telling you about.

We will have a more detailed summary following the action and some other news and notes, so stay tuned!
